UFOs and JFK, A Controversial Connection

The first person I spoke at length with was the late John Judge, the co-founder of the Committee on Political Assassination (COPA). Every year, they promoted the November 1963 events at Dealey Plaza. When Judge died in 2014 at sixty-six, the Washington Post said that he “developed a devoted following in the community of skeptics who question official or commonly accepted narratives of the past. He co-founded and directed the Coalition on Political Assassinations, an organization whose activities include investigating the deaths in the 1960s of John Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and black nationalist leader Malcolm X. News outlets, with some frequency, featured Mr. Judge and his work.”

I can’t say Judge and I were good friends; we weren’t. We only met on a few occasions, and two were crowded events. The first time I really got acquainted with Judge’s work was on November 22, 2003, the fortieth “anniversary” of JFK’s murder. It was when, on one day during the 2003 events, we were able to squeeze in a couple of meals. The location was the Ozona Grill & Bar, a very popular eatery in Dallas. It quickly became clear to me Judge was very hesitant about endorsing the JFK-UFO-Marilyn theory. I could hardly blame him. He did, however, share with me a fascinating piece of data that, he said, made him wonder if there was some sort of complicated conspiracy that combined politics, hired gunmen, and the extraterrestrial phenomenon.

Judge explained to me that what impressed him about the theory was not so much who the assassins may have been or what their agenda was, but because of something that took place one day before Kennedy was slain: November 21, 1963.
